The History of BIOMARIS 70 Years of Health and Beauty
BIOMARIS has grown over seven decades from a “one man operation” dealing in sea water drinks to one of the leading specialists in marine cosmetics in the world. The product line of this Bremen company, employing 70 staff, comprises a number of face and body care products, decorative cosmetics as well as health food supplements and covers all the demands of a holistic regime.
A Sea of Active Ingredients Sea water has been recognised for thousands of years as a natural healing agent producing an almost inexhaustible source of healing power for human health and beauty. Its unique effectiveness is due to the substances found in sea water and their concentrations. People need a balanced combination of minerals and trace elements. Curative Sea Water Drink
Walter Brachman, the original founders of BIOMARIS, recognised as one of the first the diversity and power of the sea as a “raw material supplier”. Experts sneered at the “Curative Sea Water Drink” when it was introduced to the public by the Bremen businessman in Leipzig in 1937. However the drink quickly gained a wider following and its unique benefits found increasing popularity. Just two years later Brachmann was supplying a number of German mineral water companies.
In 1946 the first BIOMARIS curative drink hall was opened in Borkum. A growing number of devotees sought to utilize the power of the sea by consuming the health-promoting DEEP sea water for its curative properties. In 1970 over one million people in Germany were using the curative sea water drink each year as an integral part of their health regime.
From Curative Drink to Cosmetics
In the 1960s BIOMARIS Research succeeded in incorporating rich marine minerals and trace elements in their natural form into a skin cream using natural methods. After extensive testing dermatologists confirmed that the cream was not only very well suited to daily skin care but also to the “interval free post-treatment” of many skin disorders, for example psoriasis and eczema. Since then it has been recommended by renowned skin clinics and has been used with success. Today SKIN CREAM is recognised as the classic in the BIOMARIS skin care range – a proven formula almost unchanged over four decades.
A Sea of Products
The success of SKIN CREAM was the trigger for an extensive skin care programme based on active marine ingredients. The BIOMARIS product range has undergone continuous expansion since that time and today offers, in addition to face and body care, decorative cosmetic products and health food supplements.
The most recent examples of BIOMARIS’ innovative research and development are its anti-aging cream – with a dermatologically confirmed wrinkle reducing action of on average 30.3 percent after 28 days – and the new sensitive cream for particularly sensitive skin.
